Cover Story: The competition to design the "Darat King Abdullah II" culture centre in the Jordanian capital of Amman produced a variety of different entries. Snohetta Arkitektur housed it under a giant dome, Zaha Hadid Architects proposed a long building with gentle, organically shaped interior rooms. Delugan Meissl opted for the striking style which features in their museums in Stuttgart and Amsterdam.

Cover Story: The University of Helsinki's libraries are about to undergo restructuring. Five faculty libraries and a students' library are to be brought together as a single functional unit. The design, submitted by Oiva Anttinen Architects won the university's competition and work is now underway.
